Epiphany

I had an epiphany asi waswakingup from a particularly bad night’s sleep. The night wasfilledwith dreams of servitude, deadlines, stress and a overload of anxiety.

I started the new year with big plans, increased writing, a new podcast (my first in two years), new production work for a person respect and consider a friend, a revival of an audio drama I walked away from two years ago, and many more things.

Crazy, right?

Anyone would think that all of these creative outlets, coupled with a full time job and a family might be the cause of my anxiety but they would be wrong. After rubbing the cat fur from my eyes, I realized that while all of these things could be stressful, they were all things that I enjoy (not so much the full time especially after this week) and were stress releases for me.

I was raised to be a person who always tries to help others. I say ‘yes’ a lot at work, and online. My epiphany is that I cannot say yes to everything and everyone. A lot of people might be scratching their heads at this and saying “duh, took you long enough” but while I’ve always known this, I haven’t always practiced what I preach to others.

What does this mean for my creative outlets and work I’ve already committed to?  Nothing. What it does mean is that the shop is closed until further notice to any new projects and new requests. I’m hoping that this will provide a much more stable creative environment for me and more consistent content for you.

I’ve lost two years in my search for creativity. I’ve done a lot, and I’ve created a lot more, and I want to be able to start sharing these things with you. Oh twelve is the year for that.

Let’s take a little walk down the hallway a little ways, to the room on the left. You’ll know it when you see it. It’s the one with the heavy red curtains, and the lack of any light.
